Pancakes, "Art", and toddler babble
Dan made the best blueberry pancakes this past Sunday!Dillan doesn't like to take time out of his busy schedule to eat, but blueberry pancakes were an exception.

Today while I was talking on the phone with Dan, Dillan decided to take some artistic license and scribble all over the kitchen floor, the refrigerator, and his feet with a red marker. I was faced with some conflicting emotions as the artist in me was excited to see him so joyfully express himself with no inhibitions. But then the mother/housekeeper in me quickly realized this was bad... real bad. I knew if this wasn't cleaned up ASAP a certain father we know and love would be very upset! Dillan did the honors of scrubbing everything. Well, really it took 30 minutes as I stood over him and supervised the cleaning. We missed our trip to the grocery store, but I made my point: Art, although fun, is often messy, and must be cleaned up by the artist.

As I write this post I am accompanied by two sounds. One is of Miss Natalie Jean cooing to her stuffed animal, and the other is of Dillan babbling in his crib. What is he babbling to himself? "DON'T MOMMY!" (said with much authority), "babadehayeahya... DON'T MOMMY! NOOOO!" and a few "Cars" thrown in here and there.
I don't want to know whats going on in his little toddler brain.

Natalie 3 month photos
Aunt Liz was at it again! Here are the pictures from Natalie's 3 month photo shoot. Today marks her 4 month birthday. It's amazing how fast they grow up!
Shes been such a sweet little girl. She doesn't demand much, but is always ready to squeeze your fingers or give you a smile. Some days she loves to talk and roll around. Other days, she just prefers to sit and watch.
Dillan loves Natalie very much. He loves to lay by her and talk to her. The first thing he says when he wakes up in the morning is "Where baby?" I'm so happy they have each other.

Cabin Trip 2011
For the past 3 years, we've made a July weekend visit to the cabin. The first year we went, we were accompanied by our friends, the Ruybals, Spauldings, Cuthberts, and Hollingsworths. Since then, we've fondly referred to that trip as "White Trash Weekend." I suppose it earned that name for a number of reasons. Let me just paint a picture with words and you will get the idea: 2 large pregnant bellies, mustard stained tank tops, 10 people crammed into an old rustic cabin with no running water, a practical joke gone wrong, a baby falling off the bed (he was fine,) hours of playing in the lake, and some serious blackmail photos!
This year we were accompanied overnight by the Spauldings. While Dan and Dan went for a late night fishing excursion, Jamie and I tried to lull a very upset Dillan to sleep with NPR. Too classy for "White Trash Weekend?" Don't worry, NPR was broadcast through a marshmallow rigged antenna. We stayed up late playing cards and drinking wine (well, at least I drank wine.) Amazingly enough, the kids slept in until 8! Saturday was spent fishing, napping, sitting around the campfire, and hanging out with the Rogers who drove up for the day.

"Wow, we have belly buttons!"

Just another summer day...
My favorite photos are those from every day life. This post is dedicated to those every-day-moments that were captured on camera over the past few weeks.
A little play time before we start the day

Dillan and Dan playing at Windsor Lake

Dillan thinking "I should throw this rock at my sister."

Dillan getting in trouble for throwing the rock at his sister. Luckily my cat-like reflexes stopped the rock in mid air.

Baby girl just rolls right off her blanket these days!

Best Daddy ever! Dan built Dillan a sandbox. Not only does Dillan love it, but it is the best looking sandbox I've ever seen! He even cut lattice to make an attractive box cover.

Dillan loves his little sister... most of the time.

Happy Monday! A watermelon margarita created by Dan. Warning: beverage may appear larger in picture than in real life.
