Family Weekend

What a busy weekend! Saturday Dan and his Dad went hiking in the Medicine Bow peaks up in Wyoming while "Grandma D" came to visit. We enjoyed celebrating cousin, Jaxon's birthday on Sunday and spent time with Aunt Alicia and Uncle Ryan who flew in from Minnesota. The party didn't end there... Monday the cousins came over for some summer fun, racing cars and playing in the pool. We also got to spend a little more time with Ryan and Alicia before they headed to the airport. Our summer is flying by and we are enjoying every moment!

Summer Solstice

June 21st is probably one of my favorite days in the year. I enjoy sipping my coffee with the early morning light that comes this time of year. The evenings are the best though. Tonight Dan and I enjoyed the lingering evening while sitting around the fire eating ice cream. Our experience was cut short as we were bombarded by mosquitoes, but it was still nice.

I'm including some pictures from our day.

I spend my afternoon making pesto (The kids were napping). I made it in honor of my friend, Scotti, who so kindly sewed a bench cushion for me. She wouldn't let me pay her in money, so I will pay her in pesto.

The recipe is easy, and a great way to use garden herbs. Mix it all in a food processer.
A bunch of basil (or oregano)
a handful of nuts
1c olive oil
1 bag shredded parmasan cheese
garlic
lemon juice




After a much needed afternoon nap, the kids and I met Aunt Liz and cousins Silas and Jaxon at the park. The park we went to had many perks: equipment safe for toddlers, and two abandoned Iron Man action figures just waiting to be adopted by Silas and Dillan.

Every morning after breakfast Dillan begs to read a Bible story from his children's Bible. This particular morning, Dillan decided to read it to me...

The Dolton family is back on blogspot! After several years of not blogging (as we were unable to access our old blog) we are back at it with this new address. We will update often, so please visit at least once a week! Also, share your blog addresses if you have one.

Here is a quick family update... Dan is coming up to some very busy weeks of work. He's been blessed with a number of jobs that all need to be done within the month of July. Dillan loves cars,"choo-choos' and anything that moves. He is learning more words every day. Natalie continues to be an easy-going, sweet little girl. She just had a photo-shoot with Aunt Liz; I will display some pictures with this post. I am now embarking on my year sebbatical from work. What an amazing blessing it has been to be home with my kids. I'm enjoying the happy and stress-free life of a stay-at-home mother.
